Ankake Spa, the developer of the role-playing game Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity, has announced Touhou Choushinsei (Touhou Supernova), a new Touhou Project game slated for release in 2023 in Japan. Like its predecessor, the game is created by fans of the franchise for fans.
The Touhou Project has gained avalanche-like popularity in Japan and on the Internet, thanks to the franchise’s creator and copyright holder allowing fan art to sell, ranging from fan art and doujinshi to unofficial games using characters from the universe.
The Touhou Project or as it is also called Project Shrine Maiden is a series of computer games in the scrolling shooter genre, created by the Japanese company Team Shanghai Alice, consisting of one person, known under the pseudonym ZUN, who independently creates music, graphics and program code for their games.
You can watch the preview video of the game. It shows the playable characters: the main protagonist of the Touhou Project series – the priestess of the Hakurei Shrine, Reimu Hakurei and the witch Marisa Kirisame.
