During The Game Awards 2023, Sega and Sonic Team unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming open-world game Sonic Frontiers, which will take place in the Starfall Islands with biomes ranging from dense forests to hot deserts. Unfortunately, more details from the developers were not provided, but thanks to the Game Informer portal, new interesting details have become known.
The new blue hedgehog adventure is currently being led by Morio Kishimoto, who previously led the development of Sonic Forces, Sonic Lost World and Sonic Colors, and was the lead designer for Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. More good news is that the story of the upcoming game was written by Ian Flynn, who is now the lead writer of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, one of the most successful Sonic print titles ever.
Sonic Frontiers is slated to release over the holidays in 2023 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
