Tencent invests in Russian studio – developer of “stalker-like” shooter PIONER

China corporation Tencent acquired a minority stake in a Russian studio GFA Games, responsible for the upcoming MMO shooter PIONER in the Soviet post-apocalypse.

The investment will accelerate the development of the game and expand the team, which, among other things, requires network engineers, animators and artists. A word to the co-founder GFA Alexander Nikitin:

We hope we can complete the PIONER and attract even more talent to production thanks to resources and industrial experience Tencent… We are glad and grateful that our vision of the game world and the vector of development PIONER so close with the vision Tencent

GFA was founded in 2017. It includes former developers STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Atomic heart, King’s bounty, Metro: Exodus and Orange Cast: Sci-Fi Space Action Game

PIONER are going to be released in 2023.

Previously Tencent has already invested in domestic developers – in Beryoski (new studio of authors “Partisans 1941”) and Mundfish (creators Atomic heart).
